This Graham Greene adaptation casts Richard Burton as Mr Brown, a hotel owner in Haiti during the island’s descent into terror under the Duvalier regime.

Released in 1967, The Comedians presents a star-studded cast of Richard Burton, Alex Guiness, Elizabeth Taylor, and Peter Ustinov in a gripping expose directed by Peter Glenville. Burton gives an understated yet powerful performance as the hotel owner secretly romancing the wife of a diplomat, portrayed with subtle strength by Elizabeth Taylor.

The Comedians will be introduced by James Bell, season co-creator at the BFI.
